The power battery is the core part of electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles and other electric vehicles. It is responsible for storing and releasing electrical energy to provide power for electric vehicles. The performance and quality of power batteries have an important impact on the range, charging time, safety and reliability of electric vehicles.
Power batteries are mainly divided into the following categories:
1. Lithium-ion battery (Lithium-ion batteries, referred to as LIB): Lithium-ion battery is currently the most commonly used type of power battery on the market. They have high energy density, long cycle life, low self-discharge rate and good charge and discharge performance. Lithium-ion batteries are mainly composed of positive electrode materials (such as lithium cobalt oxide, lithium manganese oxide, lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide, etc.), negative electrode materials (such as graphite, silicon, etc.), electrolyte, diaphragm and shell.
2. Lithium-sulfur battery (LSB): Lithium-sulfur batteries is a new type of high energy density battery with high theoretical energy density. Their main advantages are low cost, light weight, and environmental friendliness, but their cycle stability and safety still need to be improved.
3. Solid-state batteries (SSB): Solid-state battery is a new type of battery technology that uses solid electrolyte instead of traditional liquid electrolyte to improve battery safety and energy density. Solid-state batteries have the advantages of high energy density, long life, high safety and low cost, but their current technology maturity is low and production costs are high.
4. Fuel cells (FC): A fuel cell is a device that directly converts the chemical energy in the fuel and oxidant into electrical energy. Fuel cells have the advantages of high energy density, high power density, zero emissions, low noise, etc., but their high cost and the need to use hydrogen as fuel are limited in practical applications.
With the development of science and technology, power battery technology continues to make breakthroughs, new battery materials and technologies will play an increasingly important role in the future electric vehicle market.
